I am a big dreamer and visualiser. I have a great ability to peer over the horizon and imagine what could be. I thought everyone was like this. But it turns out not everyone can do this. Who knew? :-)
Dreaming up big ideas for my own business and my client's businesses brings me so much joy and fills me with energy. I love being able to join forces with my incredible clients and not only conjure up these images, but plan them out and see them come to fruition by their side!

A business vision is the desired future for your business. A future that takes into account your mission and purpose, (why the business exists) but also your core values (what you stand for) and the goals you want to achieve.
A business vision is more than just a statement of potential facts. It should conjure up feelings and emotions, ones that inspire and motivate you to continue on your journey.
Unlike typical SMART goals, a business vision likely does not have a set date or a defined set of steps or directions. It serves more as a guiding light, a northern star on your path to reaching your desires.
Your business vision will likely conjure up a feeling of what it will be like for you to run your business in the future, the team you may have in place, the flexible time you may have, the revenue you may attract, the people you may meet or work with. It's these feelings that will help keep you connected and on your way.
Connecting to your why is a huge step in achieving goals. But often the why has come about from learning from a negative experience, or avoiding a future negative experience. Your business vision acts as a NEW WHY. A positive why to connect to, propelling your forward.
I'm sure you can imagine, a business vision can be a powerful force if you use it.
The best way to use your business vision is as a tool for making decisions. As business owners we are faced with decisions, big and small, multiple times a day. If you need to decide on something important for your business but you are unsure, use your business vision to help you reach a decision. Ask yourself questions such as:
✓ Does this align with my business vision?
✓ Will this bring me closer to where I want to be?
✓ If I don't do this, am I moving away or moving towards my vision?
✓ Will taking this action be a forward, backward or side step for my business?
✓ What would future me do in this situation?
Without a business vision, decision making can be more difficult. If you don't know where you are going how can you be sure which way to turn? It can also lead to taking actions that don't serve you. Did you ever find yourself working on a project that you didn't enjoy, or that didn't feel "you"? Or have you ever ended up working with people who aren't really your tribe? Chances are you decided to work on those projects or with those people without thinking about the bigger picture.
Okay so I hope by now you can see the value in having a business vision and you are excited to start painting the bigger picture for you and your business.
If you don't already have your mission statement and core values defined it's a good idea to get those written down first.
Writing your business vision statement is all about dreaming big. It's about forgetting about anything that could stand in your way or limit you and to reach for the stars.
I know it's nice to set "realistic" and "achievable" goals as it feels easier and the date of realisation could feel closer, but that's not what we're doing here. We are not ticking boxes or creating a to do list. We are creating your business future. You can always set smaller goals that align with your vision afterwards. In fact that can be a really good idea!
So starting dreaming. Imagine your world now that your business is more established. Imagine what your personal life is like now that your business has grown. Imagine the type of employer you might be. Imagine the impact you will be making on your customers or clients. Imagine the opportunities that you meet. Let your imagination run WILD!
This is one of my favourite parts of what I do. I get so excited dreaming up big ideas with my clients.
